set the channel description: A channel for TDWG members to discuss Machine Learning with biodiversity data
Thanks for letting us know about this workspace. After exploring the TDWG workspace, I think a channel here would make a more appropriate home for the group.

@Sara Beery Thanks for inviting me to this Slack channel!
would be interesting to start some discussions on evaluation of ML models for biodiversity
considering such aspects as using the taxonomic relationships in the evaluation, long tail issues, etc.
Definitely! I think that's such an important issue. Please feel free to introduce yourself and treat this as an open discussion board 🙂
You are more than welcome to post anywhere in the slack, don't be shy 🙂
You should make sure the interested TDWG members know to join this channel, I don't know that channels always show up unless you know to look for them.

Hi I'm new to this Slack, but I saw this channel and wanted to let you know that I will be running the AI session for the TDWG-SPNHC conference this year if anyone would like to submit a talk:

You might want to post on the main channel as well and direct people to this channel, or they might not see it
I put it in the main channel also 🙂
Just got back from Okinawa. This place is awesome if you get a chance: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Xd4UPRc7dzhitjko7
Hello! Out of curiosity, are people still interested in this? I just chaired the AI session at TDWG and there were a lot of people interested in a potential working group so if there is still interest in this, would there be interest in connecting this channel to the tdwg slack?
