Not that we need to plan this immediately, but this channel is to keep track of everyone who expressed interest in helping out with a AI for Conservation social event at ESA. Maybe we can connect this explicitly with the two AI-focused sessions?

Hello!
So the deadline for ESA social event requests is tomorrow, which I of course just realized thanks to a notification january-carly put her in calendar (lol). I whipped up a quick proposal based on the required info for applying on the ESA website. Not sure if any of yβall are still interested? I had pitched the event description to be more conservation tech-general rather than AI specifically, so totally understand if you want to do something AI-specific separately! In that case, I can add in to not schedule the events concurrently (thereβs a place in the application where you can state this).
Thanks!
Yep! Count me in!! And omg oops that deadline crept up work
Happy to officially co-organize or not, whatever you think is best
Hi @Carly Batist! Did your event request get accepted?
Itβs listed in the preliminary program on the website :)

Hello again! Strangely I will be attending a different but parallel "ESA" conference in Portland this year, and presenting an update on our automated monitoring software that I first introduced at the 2023 ESA.
Will there be any other happy hour alumni in this group also in attendance?
My scheduled talk will be part of the symposium called "Night Watch on Autopilot: Innovations in Automated Nocturnal Insect Monitoring"
